A heartfelt thank you: Ankit's story
Ankit, a self-described AI "power user" who had fallen behind, joined the 5-day intensive with three things to build for work and personal use. Arthi asked for his goals before day one and planned around them, and he left with all three built and live on the web.
I came with three things that I wanted to build. Guess what? I've actually built them.
Even before we started, she'd reached out and said, 'What do you have in mind? What would you like to do?'

Hi, my name is Ankit and I had signed up for this AI 5-day intense workshop not really knowing what I'm signing up for. Well, I have been a tinkerer with AI when it started out and along the way it just got so complex that I was not able to keep pace with my regular work. And at some point in time I realized I needed an external intervention to upskill myself. So Arthi's course turned out to be that intervention that I required. It has really skilled me up when it comes to using code. I was still doing a lot of chat stuff. I would call myself a bit of a power user but not beyond that. I think what really worked for me in the course is the fact that Arthi was very clear going out of the five days I should have necessarily built something. It's so easy to say okay I'll learn and I'll do something about it later. But from the get-go, in fact, even before we started, she'd reached out and said, 'What do you have in mind? What would you like to do?' So, I put out a couple of ideas, both things that I would like to do at work and some stuff on my personal side. And she had a methodical plan in place. When we started out, she said, 'Okay, you had given me these goals and here is how we could tackle it.' And in her mind she was always very clear that walking out I would actually have it ready and working which was amazing because, you know, to start with that bent of mind that you're not here just to learn but you're here to build, and I think that really stuck with me. What I found particularly is the way Arthi had a very good knowledge of the different tools, which is what I kept quizzing her on, like how do I know what you know, right? You can tell me how to do something, but I think she was also always ensuring that she was going a bit into the details, and for someone who enjoys learning about technology and is not apprehensive I think that's great. There were times that she would just pull out a piece of paper and start writing things. I think that helped a lot, and she was willing to go down to the nth level of detail in answering questions, which I found was great. I think the empathy of a trainer is something that goes a long way. So how do I look back at the five days is that I came with three things that I wanted to build. Guess what? I've actually built them. Maybe I can tinker a bit more. I can improve them. But the skeleton is, well, more than the skeleton is in place. I think there's a throbbing heart in place and now I just need to fine-tune some things which will require some more thinking, some tinkering and so on and so forth. But I think the biggest hurdle, which is to be able to build something, that has gone away, and just the wow feeling to see something that you've built live on the web, something that you can share as a link. I think that feeling is fantastic. And I've personally gone past the Rubicon where you just think of, hey, can I build something, to, you know what? I can do it with my own two hands. I have the tools in place and all I need to do is just get going, and just the pure joy of it, right? And I remember days in college when you just sit up all night working on a project and you felt good about it, or even early days at work, and just discovering that joy of coding again. I think that's fantastic. And now, you know, when you see that the entire software is written out, it's structured, and all you had to do is just use the spoken word to do it, the sheer power of it, and to be able to deploy it, the future is here and I feel that I can build my own future from here on. So to Arthi, I can only say a big thank you for unlocking my brain into what I can achieve.

AI Residency (5 days)
From AI doubt to curiosity
Priyanka arrived at the five-day AI Residency with what she calls "nil" and even "negative" interest in AI. She credits Arthi with tailoring tools and terminology to each person's level, and left keen to open her laptop and try things on her own.
I came with nil level of interest.
You were able to engage with each one of us at our level.

So, for me, I was entering a world which I really was unaware of. Of course, we've all used the random prompts on ChatGPT figuring out some lifestyle things or something that can probably enhance aesthetics in some way. But, really using it for things that could possibly change how we are dealing with our things on a regular life was absolutely something that I didn't imagine or think of. So, when I came here and we were enrolled for this AI course, I was not super, I mean, I was not very, very excited about it or I was not looking forward to all of it. What I really liked about your teaching style was the fact that you were able to engage with each one of us at our level. You were able to generate that interest that I probably didn't come with. So, I saw maybe Ankit came with some level of interest, I came with nil level of interest. Meher came with no knowledge, no idea, and you were able to generate the kind of interest in each one of us that could help us build up on our skills. So, whether it was the terminology that you used or it was the kind of app we should be using for certain things was very differently curated for each one of us. You were quickly able to find out what interested us, worked on those things only for us. So, it still felt like a holiday. And yet, there is so much that I'm taking back. I have been able to in my head constantly go through things that you have spoken about such that I'm now keen on getting back, opening my laptop, and trying it out by myself. I think that is a very big achievement on your end. Because I came with negative interest. That is one of the other things, I think the way you engage and conduct the lesson. Of course, this is your area of expertise and I see all of it flow through the five days. But just the way in which you were able to segregate and conduct each lesson made it interesting, made it not unachievable. So at the end of each lesson I wasn't in that zone where there is too much that has been told to me and there is a world that I still am unaware of. I'm a very very tiny fish in a huge sea. I don't know where to go, what to do. At least now I feel I will be able to tap into some of the resources that I'm going back with. And of course you've added me to your group which also leads me to know where I can find you, where I can ask those queries. I think it has been a very very enriching session for me because it was give and take. You were able to quickly understand what I might have needed. And you were able to give me that. So the past five days have been very very enriching for me. I hope to continue this journey further.

I just like, my mind was blown. Hey, my name is Divya. I work as a creative director and pitch deck designer in advertising and film. I wasn't sure how I can automate my work. I took the three-day course with Arthi and working with Arthi has been a great experience, because when someone's excited to teach you things and is learning as you learn along with you, it just gives you so much hope, and there is so much more that you can see, and my mind is blown not just by how AI can do so many things for me and automate so many things, but by Arthi, because she's such a real learner even as a teacher, and that's what makes her such an amazing person to work with and to learn from. It's very designed for you and what you need and really takes into account what you have not even thought about before. So, it's been a great experience and I'll probably, she'll be my AI coach forever, but also a really nice friend.

My AI Residency Experience
Meher, 10, built an app for gymnasts during the AI Residency. She valued that Arthi answered her questions immediately and taught her enough to keep building at home, and she discovered how many AI tools exist beyond ChatGPT and Gemini.
I built an app for gymnasts to learn.
I thought there were only a few like ChatGPT and Gemini. But then I really saw that there were so many different kinds that help you with so many different things.

I really liked it. I like the way that when I asked you something, you immediately got onto it and helped me. I built an app for gymnasts to learn. And I really like the way that you helped me and you kept your promise to really help me develop and get better at each thing and teach me what to do so that when I get home, I can continue building it and make it a real app that goes live and people from all over the world can use it. Interviewer: How did that feel? To me, it was very cool that there are so many different kinds. I thought there were only a few like ChatGPT and Gemini. But then I really saw that there were so many different kinds that help you with so many different things. So, it was really interesting to me. I'll probably make videos. Maybe most probably [inaudible: caption reads "radio"]. And then I hope that people will use it and download it. Yeah, it's cool to me.

Okay. You're like the hardest worker I know, and you're really living this automation stuff. So, I want to say, 'Oh my god, you're so good.' And actually, I can see that you're having fun while you're doing your automations as well, and learning as you go. So, that's the main thing. When you're doing what you really love, then you know that you're in the right spot. And I think everybody who comes and sees you in your class definitely gets so much benefit, and instantly you make those little increments that get them to where they want to be. Just making good processes and teaching at the same time. So, super amazing.
