From Glorified Search Engines to a Daily Brief on WhatsApp

Manufacturing professional, Automate your Business

He works in manufacturing, in a business where raw-material planning for steel tubes was done by hand. He did not mince words about what that cost. It was a "huge waste of manpower".

He had tried AI tools, but they had not impressed him. To him, they were "just glorified search engines". Fine for a quick lookup, but nowhere near the kind of help that could take on procurement, requests for quotes or production planning.

Still, he was curious enough to commit. He signed up for Automate your Business, Arthi's 1:1 mentorship, with a clear plan: learn it himself first, then bring it to his team.

The first class changed his view of what these tools could do. They set up a task that summarises the news for him every day, and began planning how the raw-material work could be automated. He compared the result with his own earlier attempt.

"the previous time when I've done it, it was very superficial... This was, I mean, if I asked my peers or somebody to make it, they would probably come up with something like this. So, it was definitely better than before."

By the end, he was clearly moved. "Thank you, thank you so much. This has been absolutely enlightening." Then: "This has been wonderful." And: "That is being very, very clarifying." He was already thinking about running a similar class for his own people.

The next session brought the tools into his daily routine. They set up Wispr Flow so he could speak instead of type, installed Codex, and built a bridge to WhatsApp. The goal was a daily brief that would simply arrive on his phone, without him having to go looking for it.

Then came the moment every learner remembers, when the thing you have been building finally comes to life. He watched the brief come through. "There. It seems to be working."

It had been a full session, and he knew it. "Thank you so much for today. Another mind-boggling session, but I think I will be able to digest it."

There is something telling in that line. He did not say it was too much. He said he would digest it. That is the voice of someone who has stopped doubting whether AI is worth the effort, and started working out how to make it his own.

The bigger goals are still ahead: procurement, RFQs, and the raw-material planning that eats so many hours. But the most important change has already happened. The tool he once dismissed as a glorified search engine now shows up every day on WhatsApp with a brief made for him. And he is planning to share what he has learned with the people he works with, so the change does not stop with him.
