A Changemaker Turns His Writing Into an AI Toolkit for His City

Civic and heritage changemaker, Automate your Business

He works for the civic life of his city: on heritage, on the restoration of old buildings, and on getting people behind causes that matter. He is also a writer, with a desktop full of documents to show for it. He already paid for Claude and Codex. But he mostly used them on his phone.

His ambition was much bigger than that. He wanted AI to power the work itself, and then to turn what he learned into something others could follow. "And if I have the playbook ready, I'm going to take this playbook and become an evangelist, national evangelist. I'll go out telling other people in other cities that if I could do it here, you can as well. Me and Arthi will change your mind."

From his very first conversation with Arthi, he was sure. "Very happy. Great. I'm certain it's going to be... I know it's going to be productive for me, without a doubt."

He joined Automate your Business, Arthi's 1:1 mentorship, and the work moved off his phone and onto his computer. They set up the Claude desktop app, and Claude sorted the documents scattered across his desktop into tidy folders. A small thing, but it set the tone: AI was now working with his real material.

Then they looked at what that material could become. Together they went through 14 use-case ideas: tracking restoration projects, QR codes on buildings, and a check that answers a question every busy writer asks sooner or later. "Have I written this before?"

The turning point came when they began turning his own documents into reusable skills, so that what he knows could be called on again and again. He saw the point instantly.

"That means all the resident knowledge is never s never squandered."

His reactions through that session came in quick, delighted bursts. "Completely ideal. Very, very good idea. Excellent." "Love it." "Brilliant." By the end, a skills repository built from his own writing was in place. "Yeah. It's done with that. Very happy."

They also explored AI video tools that could turn a restoration project into a time-lapse, a way to show people what patient work on an old building really looks like.

Soon the tools were doing more than help with writing. On one restoration project, he used Claude to compare quotations in detail, well beyond simple copywriting.

What stays with you from his sessions is the warmth. At the end of one, he paused to say something that had nothing to do with software.

"I'm very happy. I'm very grateful, in fact. In fact, you're my teacher so today, Monday, belated Happy Teacher's Day."

His sessions are on pause for now, and the playbook is still being written. But the foundation is in place: an organised archive, a growing library of skills drawn from his own words, and a clear picture of how AI can serve the work he cares about most.
